Nice atmosphere, but the menu is a bit pricey and the dining room staff could be more kind and caring.

The Hitching Post is a local staple. Anyone that goes out to dinner has probably been there at least once. It has a New England menu with some of the basics such as fish, meatloaf dinner, pot roast, baked macaroni and the like. But it also has some unique dishes of its own. The menu changes seasonally but it always contains some of its signature dishes. It is rustic (in the nice sense) and comfortable with little nooks and crannies to eat in. They have a wide variety of alcoholic drinks and a good wine menu. They have wine tasting dinners now and then to help introduce you to wines. The service is always prompt and courteous and you can tell that the owners care about what they are doing. It is no longer a bargain but is definitely worth the money.
