Hurry Up And Wait!
By suzyscorpion on 03/13/2006
A couple of years ago, my husband and I tried to make a reservation around 7pm. However, they told us they only have Call Ahead Seating. We then, indeed, called ahead. Upon entering the establishment, I was shocked to see that every entrance and exit was blocked by people. Standing Room Only! There were so many people there, I couldn't comprehend what would have happened if there was a panic, or worse, a fire. My husband mentioned a few times that The Fire Marshall was going to be notified about this problem, a very potentially serious problem. There was quite a wait and they gave us a beeper. When the beeper rang, our table was ready. Well, four hours later, yes you read correctly, four hours later we were seated at a table. The waitstaff was wonderul! They were polite, friendly and professional. My husband ordered their so called famous "Blooming Onion" for an appetizer and he said it was very good, but very spicy. In fact, we wouldn't find out just how spicy it was, until hours later, when he was awakened with terrible heartburn. We both ordered a steak with mashed potatoes. The steak was okay; a little tough and grizzly, and lukewarm. The mashed potatoes were also cool and packed with garlic and other strong spices. I didn't enjoy my meal too much and after waiting for four hours, I expected a lot more of a delectable meal, than what I was served. We have not been back since that evening, nor do we plan on ever returning. I am giving The Outback 1 star because of the amount of patrons who were in the restaurant, blocking all entrances and exits, and the less than average meal that evening. I heard great things about The Outback before we ate there, but after our horrible experience, we will not be returning, nor giving anyone referalls. I think I would have had a more enjoyable meal at McDonald's.
