Small portions Dino944
By rolexkosmo on 04/15/2007
The food was good, but the portions seemed small for an adult. I had the short rib/gnocci with lobster and corn hash. But for $20 I expect more than one Peking dumpling over corn sauce with one small piece of lobster. Then I had the duck with cherry glaze, which was delicious. However, the menu describes it as a half duck, and this is very misleading. It is not a true half duck. The chef gives you 2 quarters from the hind section/legs (the smallest least meaty section of the duck). The chef must keep the meatier breast portion for himself or to make other dishes. But this is not an acceptable description of an entre considering a traditional half duck is an entire side of the duck left or right (everything from the breast back to and including the legs etc). The food had great flavor, again just not enough to eat. I should mention I'm not some 300 lbs person who eats at all you can eat buffets. Desserts were decent but not outstanding, and again small. To top all of this off, toward the end of the meal the host kept looking at our table like they wanted the table. We were only there a little more than 2 hours, and thats only because there was a sizeable amount of time between courses. Furthermore they had other open tables. At roughly $300 for four people there are other restaurants I'd go to before returning here. If you eat at Pigalle don't go on an empty stomach. I would suggest Pigalle's chef should visit Mistral to experience adult sized portions and to learn what true half duck looks like

The easy nature of this fine restaurant charmed us as we visited for a pre-opera dinner. We choose the prix fixe menu with accompanying wine flight and the chef and sommelier delighted us course after course. Our guest, a Greek national, raved about the purity of the Lamb chop with yogurt sauce, cooked to perfection. Try the cider crusti martini for an autumnal treat! We will repeat our vist to Pigalle soon, as it won our hearts and palates as our new favorite downtown restaurant.

Simply The Finest

Our "go-to" place for the special evening out, for pre-theater, and for client entertainment. Never fails to provide a first-rate experience in every respect--menu, meal prepration and presentation, room ambiance, winelist, and waitstaff. We dine out frequently, and this is our favorite destination in Boston.
