Two words sum up this long-lived East Boston favorite-veal and clowns. We don't mean funny food, but rather the house specialty and the overkill design theme. Food first: the menu features 15 different veal dishes including a pretty good char-grilled chop along with a bevy of classic Italo-American favorites like veal Marsala, veal Parmesan and saltimbocca. Now, the clowns: each of the three rooms and the bar is decorated with nothing but clowns- there are masks, puppets and pictures galore, so much so that the look is more high camp than kitsch. Now back to the food. The portions are huge, the salads contain freight car tomatoes and iceberg lettuce, the shrimp scampi is a surprising find and the broccoli rabe in garlic is a tasty appetizer and large enough to share. Order a cocktail and it doesn't take long for the waitress to call you "Hon." Full of animated diners with a staff to match, this place is a throwback to a time when Bostonians (more specifically East Bostonians) went out to eat, not to dine.

All of these reviews and comments are by the owners or good friends. The food is horrible!! Not fresh and a dirty atmosphere! Good thing they closed the clown was such an eye sore!

well when you walk in it is a wonderful atmosphere the bar is very spacious and i don't think the decor is too much at all actually when they reopened they eliminated a lot of pictures i heard they donated all the money from the old pictures from an auction to a lung foundation. the food is unbelievable it's like real italian food the scampi is to die for along with the veal limone. they added a few new things since the've opened on the menu and eliminated a few others. you can still find the same owners there and yes you can definitely find great food
