It's time to go somewhere in Eastie that's not Logan International Airport. Santarpio's, near the expressway and six blocks from the T, is a Boston pizza institution that too few people know about. Its thin-crust pizza has a cult following and is extremely addictive; the white garlic is particular favorite of patrons. The only appetizers available are lamb kabobs and sausage -- these are also to-die-for delicious with their side of peppers and rustic Italian bread. The atmosphere could be considered odious or charming; take your pick as you experience the sassy wait staff and dingy dcor. But these two factors are not why people have been coming here for four generations. They come for the pizza. If you're looking for fancy appetizers, micro-brews or even a salad, this is not the place for you. Santarpio's is old-school: Get your pizza, get your beer and don't start any nonsense. The prices are old-school, too, with a large 12-inch pie (they only come in one size) costing around $10.

Santarpio's is always the same. WONDERFUL. The pizza and lamb and sausage are always consistently cooked to perfection. The staff is friendly and the service prompt . A Boston tradition. I love the place.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PIZZA. Regina in the north end is a close second, but Santarpios takes the cake. The line is worth the wait. TRUST!!!!!!!

This place would be ranked #1 if it was half as famous as Regina!

Santarpio's has been around for decades. My grandfather used to go with my dad, then my dad took me. If more people knew about Santarpio's it would be the best in the state, but we like being low key. This is a place where you can relax, eat and not be bothered but ignorant outsiders. Santarpios atmosphere is great. Filled with old school Italians and there families. East Boston has changed over the years for the worse but Santarpio's will allways remain the same. - Briana family from Princeton St.
