Need a break from your marathon shopping at the Gateway Shopping Center in Everett? Texas Roadhouse is the oasis in the middle of the parking lot, and it will spirit you away from retail explosion into a Texan-themed world of red meat and copious amounts of gravy. Entrees are named things like "Chicken Critters" and "Road Kill" (a chopped steak), so the kids should get a kick out of it -- they can even join the "Roadhouse Ranger" club hosted by Andy the Armadillo. No one will go hungry here; complimentary warm rolls are served with sweet butter, and you are invited to "load" your potato or add a "sidekick" of ribs to your meal. And if, heaven forbid, you're trying to eat healthy, there are salads and a few other healthier selections. The casual atmosphere notwithstanding, Texas Roadhouse has won awards for its steaks and barbecue; so they're serious about good food. Just try not to wince when you order your "Sassy Sauteed Onions" and a "Big Ol' Brownie."
