The Metropolitan Club   

Chestnut Hill's Metropolitan Club proffers sophistication in several ways. First, there is the scene, described by many as a Manhattan-style steakhouse, with decor and staff demeanor that perpetuate the feeling. Secondly, the menu is an offering of simple plates with mature accents -- try the 16-ounce dry-aged sirloin steak with roasted garlic and truffle sauce. Not only does The Met give you the option of a private dining room, but that room is equipped with technology rivaling Bill Gate's house: an individual sound system, wireless internet, satellite, even teleconferencing ability. And the staff is prepared to provide any other equipment or arrangements you might need. If you're looking for a lower-tech evening, hang in the Met Bar, which offers lighter fare. As with the atmosphere, cocktails here are clever and stylish: the Metropolis has house-made sorrel petal syrup and the mint julep comes in a traditional pewter julep cup. Located in the former Route 9 home of Fig's, The Met is another example of suburban urbanity.
