Oyster Bar I   

If you want a memorable dining experience in Brownsville then Oyster Bar 1 will leave you with one. When you enter the 1950's relic of a restaurant you encounter the mass of red faux leather. The booth seats lost their stuffing in 1960 - you can hardly reach the tables with your elbows. To avoid food chain fried food I ordered broiled Flounder. The deep fried carcass that appeared on my plate was steadfastly defended by the waiter as 'turned under the broiler after it came out of the deep frier'. Trying to discuss this further with the waiter seemed to invoke his loss of any English whatsoever. In short - eat somewhere else - anywhere else; it's a dump and the food is appropriate.
