The Hideaway Restaurant and Nightclub has been in business for close to two decades, with a clientele of local professionals who have become loyal customers over the years. The traditional American cuisine and barbecue served at the Hideaway is not for the faint of heart, and the most popular dishes are for meat lovers only: baby back ribs, prime rib and steak. The casual dining atmosphere of the restaurant and the moderately priced entrees make this a reliable option for those looking to eat out. The bar's energy level cranks up a notch or two every Friday and Saturday night when the DJ starts to spin (he takes requests) and couples flood the small dance floor. The lounge, which is separate from the restaurant, is relatively quiet and mellow -- unless there's a crucial University of Illinois sporting event going on.
