Diners are dazzled nightly as their Japanese meals are prepared in front of them by a Teppan- trained chef on an open grill with a blitz of speed, flair and precision. Shrimp, beef and chicken are sliced and cooked along with vegetables for an experience that is part cuisine, part performance. The sushi bar is popular, too. Be aware that on crowded nights the place gets kind of smoky and some of the aromas may come home with you on your clothes. And as far as the Teppan style of cooking is concerned, enjoy it at Kamakura, but don't try it at home.

RAWSOME

Kamakura is ichiban (#1). The sushi & rolls are outstanding and the sushi chefs and wait staff have always been friendly. We've been going to Kamakura for 3 years. My wife and I drive 60 miles just to experience the friendly atmosphere and wonderful sushi. The sushi has always been very fresh & we reccommend the Illini & the German Rolls.

We always go to Kamakura for special occasions with a large enough group to sit at one of the grill-tables. It is so interesting to watch the chef prepare the food right before our eyes. The chefs are very talented. The food is always excellent and is well worth the price. Even our 5 and 4 year olds love to watch the chef as he prepares the food.

Sushi
By akrski on 03/13/2005
Fish is very fresh, variety of fish is minimal and size is traditional. Seaurchin and vinegared mackerel are served. Water content of sushi rice is very satisfactory. Nigiri rice is one finger size, tightly compacted and remains intact after being dipped in soy sauce. Small amount wasabi is pasted between nigiri rice and fish. Maki is rolled skillfully, the ingredients are nicely centered and ramain in shape. Avocado in maki is very fresh and smooth. Minimum order of nigiri is two pieces. Price is very resonable for this good quality of sushi. A good place for casual and entertaining guests.
