Still Superb
By wmmci3 on 04/25/2007
So many great restaurants fizzle into mediocrity after 5-10 years in business. Carolina's has gone through numerous changes but is still superb. It is easily one of the top 20 in the area and probably one of the top 10 downtown.

SUPERB NEW CHEF
By ajjnj on 03/19/2007
New chef had been at Per Se and La Bernardin in New York as well as a top flight restaurant in Nantucket. Jamie Waby, one of the best GM's in Charleston took over four months ago and has made a lot of staff changes and the place shows it...service is the best in years. There is a separate bar-food menu which has a 10 oz Kobe-Tenderloin burger on it. The flounder and grouper are noteworthy. Great cheese plate. Prices for both food and wine are reasonable ( several really good bottles in the $30's).

not that great

Mediocrity at its finest. there are way too many fine restaurants in Charleston to consider this one even in the top 20. Even when Mama Rose was there it was overpriced and blah ( she has retired I understand). Sure, syop in for a cocktail and app at the bar, but go elsewhere for dinner. Native Charlestonian
