Haute cuisine and high spirits. Steaks and chops, fish and oysters, champagne and lobster. And proper cocktails, served with style each evening by chef/partner Robert Carter and staff. The atmosphere is sophisticated and clubby, not formal, Walls are covered in rich velvet with antique Cyprus woodwork, 19th-century oil paintings and contemporary renderings of local plantation life. Beyond the room are views of the lush Garden Courtyard and reflecting pool. Experience the acclaimed fare of four-star Peninsula Grill. For all guests business casual is the appropriate attire. For Gentlemen, a jacket is requested, not required. For Women, either a dress or slacks is suggested.

okay

After reading reviews and looking for something special I took my husband here for his birthday. We are in our mid twenties but look younger and we were treated almost like teenagers, very poor service, I think our waiter expected a poor tip. The food was not at all what we expected, we frequently visit Charleston and always walk by thinking what a beautiful location, but we won't return. The dessert was very good, the meal was not.

Lovely but Loud

The food, service and decor are all delightful. Our waiter Rick was professional and personable. The problem is the decible level of the diners. There are engineers who specialize in acoustics and this lovely restaurant needs their services. I could not hear my dining companions conversation nor they mine at a table for 4. Not acceptable anywhere but especially at a restaurant of this calibre. We dined there on 11/24/04. M. W.
