The Scoop: The grandmama of Charlotte's florists, Elizabeth House is a classic, timeless beauty -- a chic dowager every woman wants to become. This is the premier floral arranger to the city's movers and shakers and it excels at producing picture-perfect fairy-tale wedding designs. However, the designers on staff can be completely trusted to create a tasteful and festive arrangement for any occasion. Fresh and exotic flowers abound, and European gardens and beautiful living plants are also available. Arrangements begin around $30 and can go upward of $200, plus delivery. The Scene: Elizabeth House is flower headquarters to Myers Park Junior League debs and country club wives, but young urban professionals and funky loft dwellers in-the-know are just as likely to partake of its luscious floral magic. Housed in a historic brick building on the north edge of SouthEnd, Elizabeth House is uniquely situated to easily serve uptown, SouthEnd and Myers Park, but it also delivers citywide. Insider Tips: Don't expect to waltz in and pick up an arrangement from a refrigerated case. These are meticulous experts and every arrangement is done to order. Elizabeth House is one of the few florists in town that never uses (ahem) carnations, so fussy buyers can breathe an elegant sigh of relief. If you're at a loss for what to send, ask for assistance.
