Rate and Write a Review Walking up the front lawn of the Morehead Inn puts you in the mood of Southern estate living. Fitted with fine antiques in each of its 11 cozy guest suites, one takes in the atmosphere of Charlotte's oldest suburb, Dilworth. Full-bodied old trees canopy the streets, and friendly faces are eager to enhance one's stay here. Perfect for weddings, the catering and in-house wedding planners compliment this treasure to a tee. Constructed in 1917 for Marjorie and Charles Campbell Coddington, the house was designed by British architect William Peeps. Not opened to guests until 1984, the Morehead Inn is notable for being the first private residence to have gas, electricity and air conditioning installed in it. Sophisticated luxury is what one finds at the Morehead Inn. -- John Helmantoler
