Built in 1895 as the Dilworth Methodist Episcopal Church South, the atmospheric renovated SouthEnd space now known as Bonterra presents eclectic continental cuisine in a chic yet historic setting. Bonterra offers a pricey, urbane, eclectic menu that boldly explores the cuisines of the American Southwest, California, New Orleans, the Low Country, the Pacific Rim and the Mediterranean. Entrees range from $17 to $36 and include Fried Lobster Tail (a $36 signature dish) and Pumpkin Risotto served with duck confit and fried leeks. Enjoy your deluxe cuisine in an elegant, spacious environment of textured off-white walls and dark wood accents -- a classily romantic atmosphere that makes Bonterra a hot date spot among the city's savvy young professionals looking for an intimate dinner for two over a bottle of fine wine. Fine wines certainly abound here, as the wine list is a 200-glass knockout, serving top-notch vino from Bonterra's specially designed built-in refrigerated cabinets. -- Jennifer Saylor

Great Ambiance, service and selection, however, ...

Let me start by saying the ambiance and atmosphere in this place is fantastic. Something about eating in a beautifully constructed old church is just neat. The service and selection is also phenomenal – fantastic wine list also. However, as mentioned above the price is exuberant. I love the food and the establishment itself and have to give it 4 stars. The only thing to remember, is quality is not cheap and neither is this place.

Too pricey
By NStuckey on 07/10/2008
I love to go out for a nice dinner but Bonterra is very over priced. There are plenty of upscale restaurants to go to in Charlotte with better food and more reasonable prices.
