One look at the mauve-and-green facade, neon sign and window awnings and you know you're stepping back in time. At Frankie's, you're stepping back half a century. The Frankie in question is none other than Ol' Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra. The restaurant pays homage to him, from the black-and-white photographs on the cream-colored walls to the Sinatra tunes on the sound system. Frankie's is elegant without being stuffy, with lots of dark woods and a wood-burning oven. The menu features -- what else? -- Italian classics that Frankie would love. Dig into huge portions of spaghetti with meatballs, chicken Parmesan, lasagna and calamari. You won't find any creative surprises, just good old-fashioned Italian food like Mama Corleone used to make. Desserts, like tiramisu and fudge brownies, are big and rich. Prices are low.

The Best
By Hard2bfrank on 07/09/2008
No better place to take a date. She will want to go back. The music, tile floors, Sinatra music in the background. The food is excellent!! Best Italian restaurant in Charlotte because of the ambiance. I like Portofinos and Buca but this is the best.

Salade Mona Lisa with Grilled Salmon!
By LustfulAlice on 06/06/2008
The best meal ever, and the only meal I order any more when going to Frankie's! It's so healthy and delicious! Love the Frank Sinatra music for ambiance, romance, and sophistication! I've always gotten excellent excellent customer service there because they welcome and treat their customers as though they're trying to be hospitable to new friends rather just waiting on or serving "another customer." A wonderful restaurant and meeting place! I just wish I could afford to eat out there more often, but, that will come with time.

It's not all excellent, but...

It's not all excellent. The food is often good to very good, not inexpensive and sometimes not quite warm enough ... but who cares?!? The atmosphere, the service, the style and the music have a tendency to make things taste better. Take a break from the ordinary, go to Frankie's, order a superb drink, make some menu choices and enjoy your being able to do so. Then have another drink ... I fully intend to have a martini made by Dave, an unassuming genius behind the bar, placed in my coffin just before they close the lid.
