With a goal of bringing the breads of their native Eastern Europe to the New South, Vlado and Sladjana Novakovic set up shop in SouthEnd in the mid-'90s. Now the Novakovics -- wildly successful and with fresh-bread fans all over the city -- have a second Nova's Bakery location in Plaza-Midwood's tony Tattoo District. The hungry will find orange-chocolate bread, crusty baguettes, fragrant green-olive kalamata bread and much more, perfectly washed down with their hot coffee. Enjoy bakery delicacies such as focaccia and scones, and dessert pastries like cannoli. Nova's desserts are as tempting as their breads.

Tastebud Heaven!

I've never ever had a better tasting muffin than Nova's glorious morning! tastes just like a carrot cake without the icing, the best part is it fills you right up! And their breads are awesome too, my personal favorite is Cranberry Pecan and not far behind that is their 8-grain with oats on top, totally yummy, the best for sandwiches. I love going to Nova's because I can get my morning coffee, breakfast, lunch bread and dinner desert all in one spot, and the customer service is the best I've ever experienced, walk in there twice and they already know your name and what you'll order. Nova's is definitely worth the drive.

Yum!

Wonderful bread and bakery items that just cannot be found anywhere else in Charlotte (though other places try). My only complaint is that they always sell out of the orange scones. Wait, one more small thing...they charge you a fee if you use your debit/credit card or write a check for under five dollars. Oh well, it's worth it!
