Don't let the "cafe" in the name confuse you -- Picasso's is a sports bar, albeit an upscale one (hence the "cafe"). Walls are decorated with sports posters, pennants and framed clippings, though neon is kept to a minimum. There are a handful of televisions hung over a long bar, providing equal opportunity sports watching. The menu features familiar pub fare, like sandwiches, lots of appetizers and snacks, pizzas and burgers. Pizza toppings (and calzone fillings) include spinach, ricotta, feta, sun-dried tomatoes, black olives and garlic. There are 10 varieties of wings, including hot garlic and Caribbean creeper. Other appetizers include bread sticks, pepperoni rolls, fried mushrooms and cheese fries. Before 8pm, Picasso's is filled with families and kids; after 8pm the place becomes more of a nightspot for 30-somethings. Prices are low.

Don't go if your a race fan..

A group of us visited Picasso's this past weekend for the first time and had ordered drinks and were watching the Busch race on tv for that is why we went to the "sports bar" that had a sign out front "welcome race fans". After all, it was the weekend of the races here at Lowes Motor Speedway. We had asked the bartender if he could turn the race on the big screen tv and after looking around for a minute he said "umm no". I understand not everyone wants to watch a race and their are other sports however when the race comes to town and a big portion of a bar's profits/revenue are coming from race fans and if they are promoting the race, I would expect to watch the race over basketball playoffs that Charlotte was not even in. We won't be returning to the bar. The people working there are not "fan" friendly and welcoming like they promote. If you want to watch anything specific don't count on this bar.....you'll probably have to call first to see if they'll let you watch it.
