Way down at the end of Elliewood Avenue, the Buddhist Biker has found a home in a cool little two-story brick house next to the railroad tracks. A quaint brick patio with wrought-iron tables surrounded by a white picket fence welcomes you as you approach from Elliewood. Sunburst glass doors then draw you into this groovy establishment frequented by hip, easygoing students. The interior is decorated with a lighthearted oriental flair (and of course lots of Buddhas). You can sit at the festive knickknack-laden bar or in one of the irregularly shaped rooms either upstairs or downstairs. Hours of Enlightenment, with discount drafts and half-price appetizers, take place every evening from 5-7pm. To aid your transition into transcendental mode, try the Abita Purple Haze or Doggie-Style Pale Ale. Kim Mattingly
