Whether there's a big game in town (football, hockey, basketball, baseball), a major concert or a movie being filmed on location, rest assured the stars will come out to play later on at this notorious Rush Street steakhouse. Gibsons, a sprawling, sceney spot frequented by tourists and locals, is housed in the space once occupied by Mr. Kelley's, where Streisand and Sinatra once performed. Carrying on that star-studded tradition, Gibsons packs 'em in weekly for their aged steaks, potent cocktails and piano bar entertainment. The front-room bar enjoys constant traffic as traveling businessmen and tourists hang out to see and be seen. The full dinner menu and a special bar menu can be ordered here. In the main dining room, lush with antique hardwood touches from the tables to the roomy booths, the heavy rollers chow down on Gibsons specials such as the prime rib of beef, grilled American red snapper (with pistachio crust and papaya butter sauce) or lobster tail with turf. Work off those calories by strolling the staircase of Gibson's, which is lined with autographed photos from athletes, politicians, movie and rock stars. Another Gibsons is located in Rosemont; and its sister restaurants are next -- door Hugo's Frog Bar and RL, right off Chicago Avenue.

All Hype
By airord on 01/18/2008
I don't know who keeps rating this place in the top ten, I am assuming it is visiting businessman on an expenses account. A good cut of steak stuck in a broiler is easy to find all over Chicago so why subject yourself to a place that overbooks, does not have a big enough area to handle the overflow and rushes you out the door as quickly as possible! Do some research and ask some locals and you will find much, MUCH better.

Great food, loud and festive

Well known for an expense account place to go with the huge portions including deserts where the pies are cut in fourths instead of eighths.

Poor Rude Service
By footdoc911 on 02/20/2007
I took my wife and her sister and husband to Gibsons in July of 2006. My wife was vegatarian, but everyone else was ready for a great steak. The watress was very rude, did not help my wife out in getting something for her to eat. I was shocked at the service for such high rated steakhouse. The manager was told and she replaced the watress. Over-all the food was good but again the service ruined the visit.
