Pier One Imports meets Banana Republic at Anthropologie, a spacious home furnishings, clothing and decor store with a pseudo-safari theme in the touristy north Loop area. Like nearby establishments The Rainforest Cafe and Sportsmart, Anthropologie is larger than life and almost Disneyland-esque. Two huge heavy wooden doors with iron handles shaped like jungle vines stand open to reveal a spacious, loft-like store full of light-weight trendy activewear and earthy, eco-themed home furnishings. The high ceiling is ribbed by raw wooden beams, and light techno-rock music plays in the background, as shoppers browse through the selection of frames, pots, table settings, hardware, sunglasses and casual wear. Their clientele is largely tourists and women from the Gold Coast and downtown.
