Rate and Write a Review If Monday nights are the new Saturday nights, then The Buzz is Chicago's premier weekend hotspot. Sure, actual Saturday nights are still jam-packed, but for the early week clubber, this is the spot. Some probably show up for the killer light show on the dance floor, while others are attracted by reasonable drink prices in a Loop club (house cocktails are $5). Still more prowlers are looking for the opportunity to drink until 5AM. But there's no doubt that everyone is there to be seen. The interior is nondescript nightclub fare, since, after all, the main attraction is the clientele: hardcore partiers who aren't threatened by a cutthroat dance floor and a competitive "meet market." Hip-hop and salsa are the throbbing stock-in-trade here, with free salsa dance lessons on Wednesday nights at 6:30. While the weekends have a steep cover (fifteen bucks on Fridays and Saturdays), it's easy to understand why Latin music enthusiasts in particular are so willing to fork it over. The city's best salsa dancers can often be found in the center of the dance floor. Couches and a few semi-private booths allow for small doses of casual conversation, but don't get too cozy. The person you just met didn't come to talk.
