Lincoln Park is home to many live-music venues, most notably Kingston Mines, Green Dolphin Street and Schubas, all places that get the grooves goin' with blues, folk or jazz. When it comes to cutting-edge indie sounds like hip-hop, funk and rock, however, Elbo Room seems to nail it every time. In fact, the club's original claim to fame was being the original home to Mighty Blue Kings and Liquid Soul. The little corner club got its name for a reason there really is no room to move--but that's the way fans like it. They enjoy sitting on the scattered pieces of ratty furniture, drinking dirt-cheap drinks and yelling over the loud music. Young, usually college and post-college patrons, frequent the bar for the late-night sets featuring local artists such as Sumo (on Sundays) and the Chicago Rock Club (on Mondays), a collective of local bands on the rise. In addition, the bar occasionally hosts acoustic and open-mic nights.
