For those longing for the old Shelter days -- that late-night 1990s club that put Chicago on an international nightlife map -- famed restaurateur Jerry Kleiner offers the next best thing in the Warehouse District. The old Shelter had a Victor Hotel sign hanging in the VIP room, and Kleiner (who also owns Marche and Red Light in the West Loop) has resurrected it. Housed in an ancient freezer building, Victor Hotel serves as Kleiner's offbeat version of a hotel lobby lounge. Quirky, contemporary furniture (designed by Charles and Ray Eames), concrete floors, Barcelona chairs, stainless steel doors, eye-catching oil paintings and hundreds of black-and-white photographs add to the whimsical decor that's become known as the ''Kleiner touch.'' Each room offers a unique atmosphere, from chic Euro-style to exotic Asian. DJs spin a variety of beats, from contemporary jams to the rarest of grooves. Hungry hipsters can enjoy sushi crafted by chefs Daniel and John Suh.

Comparison to Shelter??
By igmbookings on 10/02/2005
Comparison to Shelter? Shelter was all about the vibe and the music! The DJ is an unknown that blends beats like my blender blends crap. His selection I must admit is soulful creating an atmosphere but to a muffled sound system! Most importantly bring back the TALENTED DJ's that read and sense the crowd invest in your sound system and than maybe Mr. Kleiner can compare it to Shelter. If they continue the path with no change where looking at your typical joint that wont stand out but had the potential to become the Next SHELTER

what a waste!
By jperez1910 on 08/25/2005
I was there on a saturday night in August. There was a $20.00 cover charge. I could not beleive that in the bar there were only 4 chairs. There was some additional seating but the tables were reserved. The drinks were over priced. It seemed that I was in some kind of wax museaum with plastic people walking around. I spoke o one of the workers and sked if there was dancing? The genltemen stated once in a while a couple will dance. I did not care for this place. It sems like a place where folks want to be seen with their imatation rolexes....
