Athenian Room   

Real Greek-American food served in a friendly, comfortable and quaint dining room characterizes the Athenian Room in the heart of upscale Lincoln Park. The white-stucco walls, adorned with photos of Greece on the inside, combined with the flower boxes around the patio area make it a beautiful and peaceful place to relax. The clientele includes a smattering of Greek immigrants and mostly people of all ages from the surrounding neighborhoods. Established in 1972, the restaurant offers selections including Greek caviar, spinach pie, chicken and pork shish kebab, gyros and pitas, along with favorites such as the Greek feta-charburger and the Greek Villager's Salad, with baklava to finish off your meal. The servings are large and affordably priced, with most meat dishes in the $6-$7 range, while sandwiches ring up slightly cheaper. -- Kari Lydersen
