Slick, small and sparkling in all its newness, Atmospheres is just what the doctor ordered for the mellow Andersonville neighborhood. There's Madrigal's, a cute gay watering hole with even cuter male strippers, and Stargaze, a lesbian lounge that's been around for years, but there really isn't a nightspot in the area for both crowds, plus the influx of straight people in the area. Atmospheres is for everyone, and the dance floor is filled with gay, lesbian and straight people mingling happily together. The music is upbeat, and DJs spin just about everything, from classic pop tunes to contemporary dance music. Music videos play on monitors all night long. The room is warm and inviting, dripping in colors of green, rust and purple. Patrons can sink into the large leather sofas and chairs near the front to soak up the atmosphere, or belly up to the crowded bar where the drinks of choice are Cosmopolitans and chocolate martinis. Look for Atmospheres to host amateur drag and strip shows, Latin and swing nights, and possibly acting classes.
