A big splash in New York City, Blue Water Grill was inevitable to make its way to Chicago. But fans of the crammed East Coast original will be happy to know that there's actually elbow room in this spacious, two-level restaurant situated in the heart of River North. Depending on your mood, there are several atmospheres at Blue Water Grill, or BWG as its often called, from the front-room chill out lounge to a more formal dining room in the rear. Each space is also unique through the use of color, wood tones, fabric and detailed accessories. The menu offers a wide array of seafood and steak dishes, plus a selection of specialty entrees designed only for the Chicago location. Selections include the popcorn-crusted halibut with English peas, grilled corn, white beans and lobster tarragon vinaigrette; veal Milanese with vine ripe tomatoes; or the herb-steamed Chilean sea bass with rock shrimp, sun-dried tomato ravioli and pepper pistachio chutney. Sushi lovers will delight in a selection of signature rolls, including the Maine lobster roll with fresh plum, wasabi tobiko and wasabi-pineapple sauce. There's also a raw bar. For a clubbier atmosphere, head upstairs to the Starfish Lounge, a more sultry room with antique mirror screens, conversation-worthy decorations and a DJ spinning all your favorite hits.

I love the spicy tuna rolls. Favorite item on menu. The atmosphere is trendy and the champagne is great. We were given a free bottle from the manager. Nice.

My Boyfriend's Birthday

Very decent ambiance. His chicken was dry, my fish had NO seasoning. The food was very bland. The best part of the meal was the bread, sushi and wine. Other than that, not worth it.

Don't waste your time, money!
By jweitzner on 02/18/2006
The soup was lukewarm, and the sushi was filled with mayonnaise (ick!). The fish was loaded with salt, and the dessert options were very uninteresting. Don't waste your time or money.
