Rate and Write a Review Widely touted as one of Chicago's most romantic restaurants, Geja's has been under the ownership of John Davis since 1965, evolving over time into the city's premier fondue restaurant. Use all of the cliches you want to describe Geja's romantic appeal -- it's dimly lit, intimate, cozy -- but don't come to a fondue restaurant without expecting a little cheesiness. Exposed brick, old dark wood and low ceilings heighten the effect, as does live Spanish classical guitar and flamenco. Eating is simple: dip stuff into chocolate, cheese or oil. Seating can be complicated: reservations are taken Sunday through Thursday at 5PM, on Friday at 6PM and on Saturday at 5PM. Guests wishing to eat on the weekend at a time acceptable to non-nonagenarians are invited to sit at the bar and load up on wine, or leave their cell phone numbers (this is Lincoln Park -- it's assumed) and wander off, holding hands, into the night.
