Named after an Irish noblewoman turned pirate, this cozy eatery and bar is a nice casual addition to the South Loop area. Grace O'Malley's is the third venture for managing partner Matthew O'Malley, who is also behind The Firehouse, a classic-American restaurant, and The Wabash Tap, a neighborhood pub. Look for Irish staples with twists: Guinness-cured pork chops, fish and chips (with curry fries) and Shepherd's pie (with special seasonings). A number of sandwiches, salads and appetizers also highlights the menu. The setting features the usual Irish pub atmosphere, from hard wood accents and television monitors to roomy booths and traditional Irish memorabilia. O'Malley's projects are healthy competition for other famed restaurateurs locking down space in the area, from KDK's Gioco, Saiko and Opera to Restaurant Development Group's Bar Louie and South City Tavern. What sets them apart, however, is that they hone in on what South Loopers seek in their neck of the woods: good, quality food at reasonable prices.

Great Local Restaurant~Pub

We stopped over to Grace O'Malley's for a pre-dinner drink and were very pleased. The bartender was extremely friendly and gave us great ideas for "tourist attractions" in the city (we were in town visiting). Seems like a great place to get drinks and they also have a restaurant with standard Irish/American food.
