Photos of famous faces line the walls, and it's obvious that the decor has been painfully well-preserved to maintain a traditional look. It's upstairs and sister to the newer Vivere, the fashionable first-floor option and La Cantina, a romantic, seafood spot on the lower level. The trio of restaurants is popular with the lunch crowd, theatergoers and tourists who come for favorites like the Chicken Vesuvio (at the Village), shrimp casalinga, veal scaloppine and linguini with clam sauce.

Dependably over the top for generations
From the ravioli eaten at my 18th birthday party to the pre-ballet dinner shared with my daughter and youngest granddaughter (I am 67), it is the best, or as my granddaughter said, "Awesome."
