An All-American department store, the name Sears has been synonymous with tools, appliances and auto parts for centuries. Then a few years ago, Sears underwent a change in image proclaiming their "softer side" and began selling more fashionable clothing, shoes and home decor. Display windows that would have traditionally showcased the latest refrigerator now show trendy teen clothing and pretty floral dresses. This does not mean that Sears has stopped selling appliances, however. In fact, it is the only department store in the city where you can buy a stackable washer and dryer, perfect for a Chicago apartment. An optical department, garden center and portrait studio are a few of the extras that Sears has to offer. You might stop in for a hammer and leave with new towels, a family portrait and a prom dress. With unlimited choices in one location, Sears is a super time saver for people with fast paced city lives.
