At bustling Adobo Grill, the menu changes frequently, but one standby endures: servers will whip up a fresh -- and it doesn't get any fresher than this -- batch of artfully-prepared guacamole tableside. It's a light and airy way to begin a dining experience at Adobo. Start your meal off with the ''cevichazo'' (catch of the day); offerings include a halibut salsa or octopus with grilled pineapple, all marinated in lime and orange juice and served with chips. The bite-sized ''little tostadas,'' or salbutes de pollo, literally burst with a uniquely spicy blend of flavors, and the quesadillas and empanadas are cheesy delights. Popular main courses include stuffed chicken breast, chiles rellenos, the vegetarian plate, and the grilled duck breast in black mole sauce. An extensive tequila selection, as well as a wine list and cocktail offerings, complements the lively menu. Try the house margarita -- shaken and mixed in your presence -- or a traditional mojito infused with basil and mint. If you still have room, sample the chocolate tamal or plantain crepes with vanilla bean ice cream -- diners rave about them. Both the warmly-hued dining area and group-friendly atmosphere add to the restaurant's popularity.

Nothing exciting at all
By Matrix3739 on 05/16/2008
I have been here on a couple of occasions. It was not that exciting. For what the ingredients are in Mexican food, this was definitely not worth the price. I agree that the margaritas were good, but there are many other better choices in the city.

its like they have the food already prepared and sitting on warming plates in the back. Everything is over spiced and I dont mean hot! Good Guacamole but thats the only thing that seemed fresh. Service was terrible.

Great

Even on a packed Saturday night, our party of 4 got a table within a half an hour. The food was excellent; the atmosphere splendid, though a bit loud; and the service was great. Living in Philadelphia, it was a breath a fresh air to try a Mexican place in Chicago. Mexican fare in Chicago puts Philadelphia's attempts to shame.
