The Blue Frog, in the heart of River North, stands out as a place to have fun for the sake of having fun. It features karaoke four nights a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday), open-mic night on Monday and game-night every night. The karaoke action rotates between two DJs, and the place can get so packed on karaoke nights it's a good idea to call ahead if you're with a large group. Patrons can get carried away with the kitschy atmosphere offering old-school games like Chutes & Ladders, Operation, Slinkies, Battleship and more. Food includes neighborhood pub favorites like burgers, sandwiches, soups and late-night dinners. An outdoor beer garden accommodates diners and barhoppers. -- Audarshia Townsend

Hell on earth **AVOID**

Avoid this place at all costs. This is the only place anywhere in downtown Chicago with no cover - THERE's A GOOD reason, this place is unbearable. The "music" is a speaker attached to a mic (they call it karaoke), the single TV is attached to some crappy rabbit ears with no reception, the food is nothing more than ALDI brand chips with store bought deli meat (sold for 3x the value). The "entertainment" is board games that you probably have at home. This whole place looks like someone took their livingroom apart and replaced the furniture with some round and folding tables. Don't get me started on the "washroom" - There isn't even a g-dd-amn door, it's just a curtain covering you from the freaks outside... Avoid, avoid avoid like the plague... if you dare go, don't say you weren't warned.

For refinement, go elsewhere.

As my favorite bar in the world, the Blue Frog delivers on many levels. The staff is friendly, the crowd inviting, and the drinks are cheap! I just wish I didn't have to tell the world all about it....the place is more crowded every time I return.
