With two rather successful Mexican bakery-cafe concepts under their belts, Laura and Luis Cid Perea take their venture to the Gold Coast. But unlike their BomBon Bakery and BonBon Cafe in Pilsen and the West Loop respectively, BomBon Americano features mostly classic American fare. They've splashed colors of orange, red and yellow in the former location for Cafe Expressions to give it their signature setting. And even though it doesn't have the original Latin flavor, they aim to keep the atmosphere lively and festive. Everything is freshly prepared, from a host of salads to tuna salad and roast beef sandwiches. Desserts are all baked on premises, including red velvet cake, cupcakes, pies and even fruit cobblers. For those watching their waistlines, they've added a small selection of low-fat and sugar-free goodies.
