Sink your teeth into juicy burgers, chargrilled hot dogs or steak sandwiches at this longtime Streeterville eatery. Boston Blackies is right off the Mag Mile, and those shopaholics as well as area residents and workers looking for something beyond the chi-chi spots will find this comforting. There's nothing special about Blackies (you'll find many vintage pictures on the walls, and the booths are Formica), but the food and service make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Staffers treat customers like longtime friends, and it's evident as some loyal diners have been coming here for decades. Other than the hamburgers (which you can order with bleu cheese, or smothered with bacon and grilled onions), fans boast about the onion rings (which are as big as your head), the garbage salad and the homemade chili, which is served in a large crispy tortilla and topped with onions and cheddar cheese.

I HAVE BEEN GOING TO BLACKIES SINCE THE 70:S I THINK.. IAM NOT LIVING IN CHI. NOW BUT MY FAMILY STILL DOES AND I COME BACK EVERY THANKSGIVING. I TAKE MY NEW WIFE AND STEP KIDS THERE FOR LUNCH ON BLACK FRIDAY AND THEY CANT WAIT EVERY YEAR .. THERE IS ONE WAITRESS THAHT HAS TAKEN CARE OF ME FOREVER. I CANT REMEMBER HER NAME BUT SHE ALWAYS TREATS US LIKE FAMILY. SHE HAS DARK HAIR AND TAKES CARE OF THE MIDDLE SECTION.. WE LOVE HER AND BLACKIES BURGERS AND RINGS.. I USED TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER ICE SKATING NEARBY AND THEN WE WOULD COME TO BLACKIES,SHE LOVED IT ...

really mean people

Man, these people are mean. On more than one occasion I've been told to get out because I didn't leave within a few minutes of finishing my lunch. The last time the waitress was so rude I didn't leave a tip for the first time in my entire life. The burgers are fine, but not worth it. I'll never go back.

Naperville Location

We have been to the Naperville location several times since it opened in 2007. We have never been disappointed and it's especially attractive to us since Illinois went NO SMOKING! We usually order a combination of fries and onion rings with our burgers. While the onion rings are not the best we have ever tasted, they beat out others in the area. My wife did try the "Carson's" ribs once and they were not up par. I guess Carson's and Blackies' are owned by the same outfit but, the ribs are not the way they were in their heyday. They were OK but, not exactly "meat falling off the bone" quality.
