Byron's Hot Dog Haus   

There's nothing better than a Chicago-style hot dog, and Byron's serves one of the best dogs around. The original location on Irving Park Road--just north of Wrigleyville-- has spawned locations in River West and on Lawrence Avenue. The menu ranges far and wide, covering all that Chicago hot dog stands are famous for: Vienna hot dogs (the skinless variety), Polish sausages, hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, french fries and more. If you like it messy, it's possible to order all the important bun-stuffing stuff on top of your dog: mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, pepper, pickle and celery salt -- and it's simply great. The Polish dog is a big one that sticks out a half-inch on either end of the steamed bun, and it has a nice snap to it. The french fries are terrific. Sit outside on one of the picnic tables if it's not too chilly for the best experience.
