Snotty, Overpriced, and Rude

I went to Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba with some people to celebrate a friend's birthday. I had made a reservation and told them it was a special occasion--the girl on the phone made a note of it but our waitress didn't seems to have a clue. In fact, she tried to kick us out early because she forgot to serve us our last dish! Not only that, but the staff seemed to have trouble accepting a VALID form of identification when my friend tried to order a glass of sangria. Suffice to say if you're interested in having a grown-up dining experience, you might want to avoid this establishment. Also, the dishes are just as or more expensive than those at Cafe Iberico, but the portions are much smaller. The restaurant is situated in a semi-trendy part of the North Side, and maybe that's why they think they're cool enough to get away with bad service and mediocre food--however, there are plenty of other tapas places in Chicago. Pick one of those.

This is a lively, fun place to sample Spanish cuisine. The food is very good and the sangria is better! This restaurant is a good value (dinner for two-- four tapas, two desserts, a big pitcher of sangria was $53). The pace of the meal is quick, so don't come here for a quiet, romantic meal, but defiantely check it out! Also, try the specials-- they were delicios.
