As good as my Italian Gr. Ma
I had to write this review b/c I saw that the village inspector really misrepresented this wonderful restaurant,
My grandmother moved to the US when she was an adult and her cooking was the BEST! When we eat at Enzo's it reminds me of all those wonderful dishes that my grandmother made and she spent many many weekends teaching me to make the dishes also. Everything I have tasted thus far at Enzo's is as authentic as I have ever tasted. By the way, I have been in the foodservice business as an executive in Chicago for the past 24 years and I have no affiliation or realtion to the restaurant and or owners. Hence, this review is totally unbiased and based on my years of experience both personally and professionally.
The BEST Italian restaurant in Lake County in my entire family (that is a lot of people when your talking about Italian families) !
Keep up the great cooking - Ciao Bella!
Not getting better
We have tried the place 5 times hoping it will get better. Long Grove needs a cute italian place like this. But the madam of the house is loud and abrasive. The specials always seem to be the same things. The salmon was ok but didn't have any capers as advertised. The chicken parmigiana was greasy. The pasta was unremarkable. The red wines are served too warm like they are stored in the sun or on top of the fridge. We enjoy our red wines served at or near cellar temp so we can enjoy them as they gently warm in our glasses. The olive oil on the tables is light and cheap and not good EVOO. The bread was not served in time to enjoy with the soup. The tomato basil soup was ok but the minestrone was bland. There are no paper towels in the bathroom so if you have to blow your nose you must reach down low for some toilet paper. We have given them enough chances and will probably not go back. I hate to say this, but I would rather go to Olive Garden.
OLD CITY INSPECTOR!
SAME ACID SAUCE, SAME NASTY PASTA AS THEY HAD AT HARLEM & FOSTER. THEY STILL OVERCOOK THE SAUSAGE! GARLIC CHICKEN VESUVIO STILL NOT TOO BAD. SORRY, BUT NO AWARDS! CHAMPAGNE LIST IS JUST DEAD!
