Rate and Write a Review When you want to be entertained by your servers, the obvious places to go are Ed Debevic's and Dick's Last Resort -- long known for their high-energy, unpredictable waiters and waitresses. Now comes Improv Kitchen, a Lakeview eatery that entertains as well as offers a fine-dining menu. But what sets it apart from the usual suspects is that it takes the art form to the next level. Instead of servers actually waiting on you at your table (gasp!), they appear on a large monitor that's installed at each table. From their perch (which is actually in an office next door), they take your order, but not without a little fanfare. Based on what's going on at your table (anniversary, birthday, bachelorette, first date), they'll perform a custom-designed performance for you right on the screen as you wait for your meal. Actual runners deliver piping-hot portions of upscale American cuisine such as pastas, vegetarian entrees and steaks. Created by former executive chef Kristy Steinneyer, her menu features such tasty dishes as the gnocchi pasta with Buffalo bologna sauce and fresh parmesan; a steak sandwich with Amish blue cheese aioli, cabernet onions and crispy potatoes; and a Portobello mushroom with roasted peppers, sauteed arugula, goat cheese roasted purple potatoes and truffle oil.
