What's old is new again as a beloved Bucktown candy shop opens a second location on the North Side. Favored by children and those young at heart since the early 1920s, Margie's aims to gain more fans with this smaller store on Montrose. Owner Peter Poulos (son of founder Margie Poulos) has dressed up the spot to look like its predecessor, complete with old-fashioned booths, a soda fountain and pictures. The menu, of course, offers all of Margie's favorites, including chocolate, home style ice cream specialties and sandwiches. Craving cocoa? Margie's English toffee, chocolate-covered cherries and assorted truffles should satisfy. Or, if you're jonesing for ice cream, the towering sundaes (butterscotch, hot fudge, strawberry, others), banana splits or floats should certainly put a smile on your face. But Margie's is not entirely about sweets and treats: The menu also features heaving sandwiches (tuna, club, ham & cheese), salads and daily soups.
