In a town famous for pizza, every Italian-style spot boasts about their product. From family-oriented eateries in the Heart of Italy to downtown, tourist-driven destinations, there's no shortage of pies. On the far North Side, Pizza D.O.C. draws rave reviews for its brick oven-style pies and authentic Italian fare. D.O.C. stands for 'Denominazione di Origine Controllata' -- a designation usually reserved to authenticate bottles of Italian wine. In the case of Pizza D.O.C., owner Lucia Mazzocchetti cranks out hearty portions of regional fare and what she considers ''real'' pizza, which is prepared in an oven imported from Tuscany. Choose from a number of traditional styles, including Margherita, formaggi (four cheese pizza with mozzarella, bleu cheese, Swiss and parmigiano) and Prosciutto Cotto e Funghi (with ham, mushrooms, mozzarella and tomato sauce). Pasta lovers can select from the pasta of the day, made from scratch on the premises, or such menu favorites like penne, gnocchi or rigatoni.

By Zissors65M on 07/25/2008
Burt Katz was the original owner of Pequods and sold it some time ago. Burt has reopend "Burt's Starback" just around the corner on Fernald in Morton Grove. He is open for lunch and dinner everyday except Monday's. He has been ill recently , but he is back doing his thing "Making the Best PIZZA" CALL HIM AT 847-965-7997! YOU'LL NEVER EAT PEQUODS AGAIN! (my rating is for Pequods)

Pequod's

Pequod's have two locations the Original in Morton Grove and the other on chicago's north side. Been going there just about every chance I get when Im in the city. Pizza and a salad is the best combination. Esp. at lunch time you can't beat the $5.99 combo meal. Personalized pizza and a salad. Very good pizza at fun place to eat at a good price. Five Stars

You haven't lived until you tried a Pequods pizza. Wish they were closer to me!
