not very good
By MikeT462 on 07/07/2008
We visited Socca last Saturday evening, and our dining experience was not very good. We began our dinner with the mussels appetizer and pizzette--the mussels in the shell were small with half the shells empty. Our Guest for the evening, my Mother, ordered the rib-eye special--what a dissappointment. The steak was all fat and grizzle. When we brought this to the attention of our server Tina, she dismissed our complaint by explaining that rib-eyes are general fatty. My dish, pasta di mare, was over-cooked mush with too little seafood to mention. I asked to see the Manager twice--he never came to the table. As we were leaving, I again asked for the manager. The busboy pointed out manager Tim, who really couldn't of cared less about our issues with the meal. $155.26 for three people--what a waste.

Amazing dinner spot!
By vivso1001 on 04/23/2007
This is definitely one of the best dinner spots in the city. The place has an unpretentious, cozy atmosphere and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. My friends and I went for the first time a few weeks back. We had martinis (pomegranate martinis!) and a few appetizers and entrees. I had the seafood pasta and my friends had the pork chop and pizzette (the menu has something for everyone). It was all so delicious! I’ve been back there twice ever since and I’ll definitely be going back again very soon.

What a wonderful experience! This restaurant has amazing food and great service. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. We had the mussels and the spinach pizza to start. Each was wonderful in it's own right. The Pizza was really good. It was light and really yummy. The main course, Sea Bass and Short Ribs were equally impressive. Although we did not have dessert, the menu was extremely tempting. Got a peak at the young chef. Bravo to him. This is a place to go and a place where we will return.

We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the service, the chef and the professional manners of the entire staff. Saw a recent article about Socca and Chef Roger in the Chicago Social. Speaks volumes.
