This family-run hamburger joint in the Beverly neighborhood is aptly named. Ask any of the locals seated in the booths or at the counter. This family-friendly spot is great for anyone who's seen 'Super Size Me' and worries about the healthiness of McDonald's fare. Here, the burgers are made from fresh ground beef, the fries are fresh cut from real potatoes, and the shakes are thick with milk, ice cream and flavorful syrups. You can order a quarter-pound, half-pound or three-quarter-pound burger, but no matter the size of your appetite, you'll enjoy this restaurant's affordable prices. The menu also boasts salads, soups, chili, franks, sandwiches and tasty desserts, and breakfast fare is served until 11AM. There are Top Notch sister restaurants in both Orland Park and Oak Lawn, but this one's the original.

Top-Notch Beats Out Everyone
By IRISH REEL on 01/22/2009
I am one of those individuals who look forward to a good burger and seek out establishments who "boast" of their burgers. I have dined at Boston Blackies and the Billy Goat. Both have very good burgers but Top Notches Burgers are GREAT. The King Chesseburger with grilled onions is by far the best burger I have ever tasted. Fresh ground beef, cooked to perfection and oozing with cheese, only compliments the perfected grilled onions. I always like it when the burger overlaps the bun and that is the case with Top-Notch. It is like eating a dinner, only on a bun. Top Notch is the only place where I know they cut their own French Fries from fresh potatos. You can watch the person cutting them from the counter. The fries are always hot and crisp. And the gracious serving leaves you speachless. As for their shakes...if you have ever seen the movie Pulp Fiction, where John Travoltta said, "he never tasted a $5 shake" well you have to go to Top Notch. Well worth the investment....very thick and made with home made ice cream. The great thing about Top Notch is that you can caring out. This is great, because you can eat this great burger while watching a ball game and don't have to leave the comforts of home. Top Notch is definately a place to visit. I live on the South Side and have treated my North Side friends to Top Notch. They now come down to Beverly just for the burgers.

Eat a Top-Notch and you'll throw rocks at other burger joints

Once a month our group gets together to have dinner. Usually we dine at a moderate or expensive restaurant, but I chose Top-Notch as a surprise. Now everyone wants to either go back to the Orland Park site or try the Beverly and Oak Lawn eateries. I'm a hero to our group!
