Good

I had to come in and taste the legend of Chef Bayless. I had high expectations so I was a bit dissappointed with the service overall, very slow to start . The food was well prepared and presented and seasoned. there are so many good restaurants in Chicago and I look forward to discovering more. Probably will not be back.

Unbelievably Good 1/20/2006

We had the tasting menu (I had the wine pairings as well), and we were entranced throughout the meal. The setting is beautiful, warm, colorful and romantic. The complimentary guacamole with cucumber and jicama that we had while ordering was subtly spicy and superb. We started with the ceviche, exquisitely flavored, and the empanadas, which were elegantly flaky. The delightful red-chile beef soup had crispy strands of beef and little masa dumplings. Maine lobster filled with butternut squash was excellent, as were the medallions of pork served with pulled pork in a rich brown sauce. The dessert sampler was perfectly matched with a slightly sweet French red. I know the food is great when my head starts nodding involuntarily and each bite tastes as good as the first---that kept happening all evening. Outstanding!

The Real Deal

Hi...my husband and I just got back from Mexico City and wanted to eat in Topolobampo because we had heard so much about the cuisine and how similar it was to the fine dining restaurants in Mexico City. We were thrilled to find the BEST food (okay--even better than what we had in Mexico City!) You must try!
