In ShortOnce a Prohibition speakeasy, this low-ceilinged, dimly lit space nearly always has a wait. The dining room seats 60, while the bar squeezes in another 15 around curved leather booths. Baby back ribs are the main attraction, served with extra sauce--zesty or mild. Choose baked potato, ridge-cut fries or onion rings on the side. Other entrees include broiled tiger shrimp, burgers, pulled pork and a half-chicken that's fried then quickly broiled and basted with barbecue sauce.

Are You Kidding?????

How can anyone in their right mind say these are good ribs??? The meat falls off the bone because the ribs are boiled!!!! This also takes the flavor out of them. The only flavor you taste is the sauce....that's not bar-b-que. Forget boiled ribs...try some slow smoked ribs that are finished over hot coals...WAKE UP!!!

Rating places like City's Best or Check Please in Chicago are overrated, but a good starting point. The best and most reasonable places to eat in Chicago are known by the locals, not by internet gurus or tv personalities. Twin Anchors is very good and "rustic" , but it's not the best. My friends and I can name 2 places not on this list (thank God) that are better. Travel in the city neighborhoods, talk with the locals, and when you find a great place do what we do; only tell your friends, otherwise it becomes clogged with yuppies and tourists and the prices go up.
