Every day is St. Patrick's Day at The Dubliner, Cincinnati's closest thing to an authentic Irish pub. Fans of all things Irish will appreciate the Dubliner's authentic touches, from the menu, to the beer, to the music. Sample the famous beer-battered fish and chips, the Sheppard's pie, or the crispy duck with a pint of Guinness or a Belhaven in a cozy booth in the dining room. In the dark and cozy tavern area, folks can warm up by the fireplace with an Irish coffee, or belly up to the bar for a pint while enjoying live Irish music several nights a week. When there isn't live music in the bar, there's live competition -- trivia, that is. Not the computer kind, but a game hosted in person by the bar's owner. As the Guinness pours, the competition heats up and teams compete for coveted T-shirts. Not into the crowd? Check out the patio in warmer weather for a pleasant evening of pint sipping.

Great Trivia Spot
By rrrarw on 03/17/2007
Molly Malone's (formerly Dubliner) has been making a comeback since their debut a year ago. Tuesday night trivia draws the old crowd as well as new customers as groups vie for Pub Genius title weekly. The menu is making progress, so the food quality is still a bit unpredictable, but great when it's "on." More taps have been added and the draft selection goes beyond the usual suspects for an Irish bar. Regarding the dissapearance of booths etc. posted by another writer, anyone who googles Dubliner will see that there is much more to the "remodeling" than meets the walk-in's eye. Valiant a comeback, despite unsuspected hurdles and a tight timeline.

New Dubliner Disappointing
By gregs18348 on 04/27/2006
My wife and I were a huge fan of the Dubliner. We were sorry to hear it was closing early this year, but delighted that it was re-opening as "The New Dubliner". Well, we are no longer that excited having gone there on a recent Friday night. The ambiance of the Irish Pub is gone. The walls are essentially bare, leaving the feeling of a small town VFW hall. Gone is the quirky but intimate "table under the stairs" as well as the cozy semi-private dining booths across from the bar. The performers area has apparently been moved from the front window area to the back wall. Of course this is a guess as there were no signs that any bands were playing that night. Also gone are the Irish drink menus, as well as the nice covered food menu. In it's place was a single sheet of colored paper that looks like it just came out of the printer. Most of the food is standard American or bar fare, with only a few semi-irish feeling dishes. I had the sheppard's pie, and my wife had the fish and chips. The food was good, and this is the only thing that brought my rating up from a poor to a fair. The waitress didn't know what dark beers they had, nor was she familiar with any Guinness combination drinks (a snakebite for instance). All in all it was a terribly disappointing experience. I am in no hurry to get back there any time soon.
