It may be owned by Best Western, but this isn't just any off-the-interstate, shag-carpeted "Kids Stay Free" budget motel. The 60 guest rooms are replete with four-poster canopy beds, antique furniture, and high-beamed ceilings, and the building itself (which dates from 1920) is a beautifully maintained reconstruction of Tudor architecture. While the village of Mariemont is a bit off the beaten path from Cincinnati's downtown attractions, there's plenty to see and do here. One of America's first planned communities, the town was originally founded as a workers' community; today, however, you're more likely to encounter hepcats than hardhats in this newly trendy neighborhood. Within walking distance of the inn, you'll find an art-house film theater, Graeter's Ice Cream Parlour (a Cincinnati legend) and the chic Bistro Gigi, one of the city's hottest new restaurants.
