Well-loved for its contribution to the local blues scene, Mansion Hill Tavern features some of the best up-and-coming blues acts, as well as longtime hometown favorites. Since the mid-'80s, it has offered artists a place to jam in front of a welcoming audience. Tuesday through Friday, you can get some good pub grub for lunch; they also serve dinner on Friday evenings. Still, it's the live music on weekends that really packs in the fans. And here's a nifty bonus: The surrounding Newport neighborhood also includes the Newport Aquarium, several shops and restaurants -- so make a night of it.
