Sushi places have become dining hot spots, with trendy Beluga topping the local list. This contemporary, upscale restaurant creates an urban, mod feel with minimalist decor and cool-colored walls. Sitting just off Hyde Park Square, the place screams "date night," attracting young, hip, professionals and adventurous diners. A small bar overlooking the Zen-like rock garden provides a pleasant space to wait for a table. The menu mixes East with West, including extensive a la carte and entree sushi menues and American favorites such as pasta with fresh scallops and rack of lamb. Still, Japanese fare dominates, with tempura, tonkatsu (a Japanese pork loin) and such traditional appetizers as pot stickers and spring rolls. Sushi novice?
