If your idea of Mexican fare typically includes a numbered combination plate, we may be able to expand your Tex-Mex repertoire. West Chester welcomed the Moerno brothers (formerly of Guadalajara) and their third Casa Tequila in early 2004, bringing traditional Mexican fare that features dishes both expected and not so familiar from their native home. Of course, you'll find burritos, tostadas, tacos, fajitas and the like. But the real creativity comes out in their homemade soups (try the filling menudo, a traditional Mexican soup of beef tripe, pork feet, hominy, red chili, onions and Mexican oregano) and entrees (the fresh seafood and grilled-beef offerings are worth it). We recommend the Camarones Vallarta -- large shrimp wrapped in bacon, ham and cheese and smothered in a green-chili-laced Vallarta sauce -- or the grilled steak tampiquena, which is served with chicken mole and enchiladas. The cozy dining room feels especially cheerful, as it's decorated with bright, hand-painted chairs imported from Mexico, transporting you to a Mexican fiesta. Add a margarita or a boutique tequila (from the place's selection of more than three dozen) and you've got a party.
